Karol Kruse and I took in this movie on Friday afternoon. We wanted to get together and Karol chose this movie. Based on a true story, I was really interested in seeing it.
The movie was fun, the story of a young couple (Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson) who start out with a “clearance puppy” to settle into a family mode. This dog is a terror… and I love dogs… but that dog would have been out of the house with all the stuff he pulled. I could not believe all they put up with!
However – in this movie you really get the true sense of unconditional love. This dog tears apart their furniture, their home, knocks over their children, is so disobedient… and drives them nuts some times… but they love him. (Kind of put the whole God’s unconditional love into perspective for me…)
The ending of the movie ripped me up. I don’t know why I didn’t see it coming but I honestly didn’t. About 3/4th of the way through the movie it dawned on me where we were heading and I just looked at Karol and said, “Oh, you are so in trouble!”
Over all, a great movie – good for kids, but heartbreaking in the end.
[...] Friday Al and Justin took off for a snowmobile trip to our cabin up North. I had the weekend to myself and went to a movie, Marley and Me, with Karol Kruse. See review here. [...]
Sheila, Nicole gave me this book for Christmas 2007, I read it straight on through and cried my eyes out, I have turned over the idea of seeing the movie but after your review I know now I can’t, too many tears again–
